John Abraham is back with a social-thriller movie after Satya Mev Jayate 2. Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh come up with a social message for the audience. The film, which is based on actual events, discusses the inequality that Dalits and members of lower castes experience. The movie is about where the title character Vedaa, who aspires to learn boxing, and gets abused by the upper caste men. Directed by Nikhil Advani, the film failed to inspire the audience because of its poor storytelling. The movie was also badly affected by its two other films, Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein released on the same day. That adds to Vedaa Box office collections in India in its first week marked as extremely poor.

Day 1: The film opened low on its opening day, collecting only Rs. 6.03 crore at the box office.
Day 2: The movie went extremely low on the second day, earning Rs. 1.8 crore at the box office.
Day 3: The film marginally grew on Saturday, collecting only Rs. 2.7 crore nett on the third day.
Day 4: The movie slightly improved on day 4 and earned only Rs. 3.2 crore on Sunday.
Day 5: Despite the big festival, Raksha Bandhan Vedaa only managed to collect Rs.1.5 crore on Monday.
Day 6: The film lost its run on a working day, which stated poor and collected only Rs.0.8 crore on Tuesday.
Day 7: The movie dropped 12 percent from day 6 and added only Rs. 0.7 crore on its seventh day, covering its Indian box office collections for its first seven days to Rs. 17 crore.

After getting much appreciation from the trailer, Vedaa misuses out the attention of the viewers due to various reasons. Firstly, the movie wasn’t a solo release due to the Independence Day holiday. Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein made John Abraham’s film difficult to trend despite good performances from the co-actors.
Secondly, the film is made on a serious issue, which is that people might not be ready to go to the theatres unless the story is filled with high-acting actors, tight scripts, and fewer action sequences. The main example can be The Kashmir Files or The Kerala Story. Both films were high in content and less dependent on action.
Even the same release day film like Stree 2 beat Vedaa, by a large margin which was a huge setback for the filmmakers especially John Abraham who is also a producer in the film.
In an interview with Radio City, John Abraham expressed his disappointment about his film
Vedaa, but took pride in the film. He mentioned “It’s a brave film to do. I wanted to work with Nikkhil again after Batla House,” he stated. “We’ve told it entertainingly, but there’s no getting around the fact that the subject is heavy. And if people aren’t interested in watching films with heavy subjects, that’s their choice. I respect it. But you have to face the subject at the end of the day.”
As of now, the total box office collection for the Vedaa is approximately 20 crore.

John Abraham delivers a performance that aligns well with his established on-screen persona which we have seen in his last movies like Batla House, and Satya Mev Jayate, but his character in “Vedaa” lacks the depth which did not help to build a strong connection with the audience.
Sharvari Wagh like her previous film Munjya, shines in the titular role, bringing raw energy and emotional intensity to the character of Vedaa, effectively portraying a young woman’s struggle against adversity.
Unfortunately, the supporting cast, including Abhishek Banerjee and Tamannaah Bhatia, is underutilized, with their roles either poorly developed or sidelined, diminishing their impact on the overall story.

Since the movie is overshadowed by Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein due to heavy competition in terms of screens, the film might end its run at approx. 25 crore in its lifetime.

Despite the poor Vedaa box office collections, it is a good movie that is written on a subject that was required to be said. However, the film is more concerned with John Abraham’s action scenes and making a great action film set against the backdrop of caste tensions.
