CTRL Movie: Story
In this new film, Ananya Panday plays Nella Awasthi, an influencer who, alongside her boyfriend Joe Mascarenhas (played by Vihaan Samat), navigates the ups and downs of life in the digital world.
They’ve been together for five years, running a popular community channel called NJoy, where they share everything with their fans and work with major brands. While Joe handles the technical side, Nella has distanced herself from her family. Her father has a bakery shop that was supposed to become the successor; instead, she focused entirely on her influencer career.
The movie captures the modern struggles and rewards of life as social media personalities. Their chemistry feels stronger than in their previous work, Call Me Bae, making them a compelling pair in this fun, digital film circus.
In this intriguing story, a couple, Nella and Joe, start by creating successful content together and eventually move from a small apartment in Jogeshwari to a lavish place in Bandra.
The twist came out when Nella went on to surprise Joe on his birthday late at night. She found Joe cheating on her. Heartbroken and seeking revenge, Nella decides to erase him from her digital life using an AI app called CTRL.
With the help of an AI assistant named Allen (a palindrome of Nella), she rebrands herself and even becomes the face of the app. As the story unfolds, the AI assistant tracks down information about Joe’s whereabouts.
Nella and Allen engage in conversations, sharing thoughts and feelings. But things take a darker turn when Joe mysteriously disappears, leaving Nella questioning everything. The AI and suspenseful twists make for a gripping narrative.
This movie gets interesting when Nella (Ananya Pandey) adds the missing links to find Joe (Vihaan Samat).
CTRL Movie Cast
There haven’t been multiple cast in the movie as the two leading actors took on their shoulders.
Ananya Panday shines in her role as a Gen Z girl obsessed with social media. Her previous films, like Kho Gye Hum Kaha, Call Me Bae, and Gehraiyaan, have helped her find her footing in the industry. However, the only part Ananya Pandey couldn’t go through is her acting.
She needs to become a more realistic actor like Radhika Apte or Huma Qureshi to become the original queen of OTT.
On the other hand, Joe played by the talented Vihaan Samat is a treat to watch. His acting and presence in the film added a layer to make this film even more special. His character, Joe, is a highlight of the film,

Both the actors’ chemistry balances the movie before the climax. Since both the actors have worked in their last movie Call Me Bae, they looked extremely comfortable when sharing the same screen.

This movie brings an unusual but crucial subject to the forefront, and who is more than a talented director, Vikramaditya Motwane who has explored every aspect of cinema by giving movies such as Lootera, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, Udhaan, and many more cinematic masterpieces.
Vikramaditya Motwane even this time delivers an engaging thriller and chooses a perfect subject, which is a serious concern in nowadays reality.
The script and screenplay are written by Vikramaditya Motwane and Nihit Bhave which manages to create some space for making this movie a masterpiece.
The dialogue in the film could be more cohesive and effective, which was given by Aniruddha Guha.
The movie’s music is low and forgetful. The talented Sneha Khanwalker has wasted a good opportunity in this thriller. With Anvita Dutt’s lyrics add a bold edge, particularly through a memorable rap song. The film is produced by Vikramaditya Motwane in collaboration with Andolan Films and Phantom Studios.

CTRL Movie Hit or Flop
The film introduces an effective topic that was untouched and unknown in India. Vikramaditya Motwane has come up openly with this Netflix film. The film did give a long thinking but failed to create any impact.
CTRL movie could have been converted into a Netflix series for better development of characters and story which could take the storm in brilliant series on Netflix.
The hard-hitting commentary on the scary impact of AI turned into a forgetful fiasco. From a great off-screen team, CTRL misses some dots to connect, leaving us with a sigh!

This Netflix movie is watchable if you are looking for a weekend watch. The story subject is good but the acting could have been better. As a film, CTRL doesn’t aim to explore any sci-fi idea that the viewer could find strange. The story follows a character who was later forced to be enslaved by technology.
